The official music video for (1983) is one of Billy Joel's most iconic visual works, famously starring supermodel Christie Brinkley as the title character. Directed by Jay Dubin, the video depicts a classic class-contrast narrative where Joel and his backup singers play auto mechanics who woo a wealthy socialite.

The video was filmed at a gas station on the corner of Bond Street and Bowery in New York City, located near the famous music venue CBGB.

Filming took place during the two hottest days of the year. Brinkley recalled that it was so hot her high heels kept getting stuck in the melting tar.
