: Press the "S" key on your keyboard or go to File > New > Position .

: Click the "Board" icon in the top menu bar to open a new board window.

: Select a piece from the double columns on the right and click the desired square on the board to place it. To remove a piece, click it again.

: It is usually easiest to click "Clear board" and start with an empty board rather than rearranging the standard starting position.
