J.D. stood in the fluorescent-lit hallway of Sacred Heart, his oversized scrubs feeling more like a costume than a uniform. His reverie was shattered by a janitor blocking his path with a floor buffer. J.D. tried to step around, but accidentally kicked a penny that had been wedged in the door track. He looked over at Turk, who was walking out with a tired but triumphant grin. Sacred Heart was a madhouse, but it was their madhouse. " he muttered to himself

"Deep breaths, Dorian," he muttered to himself, his internal monologue already narrating the scene like a low-budget indie film. "You're a doctor. A healer. A man of science."
