The game draws heavily from the myth of H.H. Holmes' trap-laden hotel and slasher films like Saw , Psycho , and The Shining . Gameplay Mechanics

The plot follows a five-person documentary film crew lured to a remote modern-day replica of H.H. Holmes' "Murder Castle".

The crew includes director Charlie Lonnit, host Kate Wilder (played by Jessie Buckley), cameraman Mark Nestor, grip Jamie Tiergan, and sound engineer Erin Keenan.

They are hunted by a serial killer named Hector Munday (alias Grantham Du'Met), a former FBI agent inspired by America's first serial killer, H.H. Holmes.
