The film follows several interconnected stories centered around a house cursed by a vengeful spirit. When a woman brings the curse back from Japan to her home in Pennsylvania, a series of gruesome deaths follows. Detective Muldoon (Andrea Riseborough) eventually uncovers the dark history of the residence, realizing that the "grudge" never forgets and never lets go.
If you’re a fan of and don't mind a slower pace, it’s worth a watch for the performances alone. However, if you’re looking for the groundbreaking scares of the Japanese originals, this might feel like a retread. Final Score: 5.5/10
Despite the heavy atmosphere, the movie often falls back on predictable loud-noise jump scares rather than building sustained dread.
