Curiosity overrode caution. He double-clicked the extraction log. Instead of a list of data files, a single text document appeared. It was titled MESSAGE_FROM_THE_BUNKER.txt .

Leo looked down at his hands. They were turning into pixels, dissolving into the very light of the screen. He wasn't downloading the game anymore. The game was finally downloading him.

Leo froze. A cold draft swept through the room, though the windows were shut. Suddenly, his speakers crackled. It wasn't the orchestral swell of the game’s soundtrack, but a rhythmic, metallic tapping—like fingers on a keyboard, echoing his own movements. download-nier-automata-apunka-games-part01-rar

He reached for the power button, but his hand stopped an inch away. His reflection in the monitor wasn't his own. His eyes were covered by a black tactical visor. Behind him, in the reflection of his messy room, stood a hovering tactical pod, its laser sight painted directly onto his heart.

The download finished with a soft chime. He clicked "Extract." Curiosity overrode caution

He opened it. The text scrolled automatically, faster than he could read, until it settled on a single line:

On the screen, the .rar file began to delete itself, byte by byte. But it wasn't going back into the hard drive. The progress bar was moving backward, and as it did, Leo felt a strange weight in his own chest, a digital heaviness. It was titled MESSAGE_FROM_THE_BUNKER

He didn't notice the file size was wrong. Part 01 was supposed to be two gigabytes. The folder on his desktop read: 0.00 KB.
